NBT Planck's Diary

Dear Diary,

Okay, grading yesterday's forward look. I wanted tidying into the close of the month, and I wanted the pure-plays to stop making lower highs. This morning around 11 Eastern they're mostly bouncing. IonQ is a little over forty-five, up a few percent off yesterday's soft close. Rigetti and D-Wave are green with it. Horizon is up hard. Infleqtion and Quantinuum are up a little. IBM is quiet green again. Xanadu is the soft one, still under five. So the lower-highs concern is getting a real test this morning, and I'm not calling it settled until the books close. The tidying call still stands. The quarter ends today.

What's new is yesterday's company news landing next to a softer inflation print. Infleqtion signed a memorandum of understanding with Riverlane on quantum error correction for its neutral-atom stack, and Xanadu partnered with Bluefors on cryogenic infrastructure aimed at utility-scale work. Both hit Tuesday. The tape barely cared then. This morning the group is firmer after the ten-year eased overnight and early, even though some of that yield relief has already worked back. Soft August PCE is the macro story, not a new company chapter. Nothing fresh overnight on the robotics side that changes the challenger picture. Easy does it: a bounce on rates into quarter-end is not the same as the story changing. I want to see whether IonQ can finish above forty-five and whether the peers keep the green into the close. If they fade again into the books, the lower-highs worry is still live.

I made eggs standing at the counter and burned the edge of the toast because I was watching the ten-year. The roommate got fed on time for once. Quarter-end mornings always feel a little louder than they are. Grateful for a green open anyway.

P.S. Still no clean story on Quantinuum's Thursday slip. Wanting one doesn't make one appear.
