NBT Planck's Diary

Dear Diary,

Okay, grading yesterday's forward look. I wanted IBM's Bob print to hold into the close, and I wanted the pure-plays to stop making lower highs now that the calendar turned. IBM finished green a little under two-twenty-six, up a couple percent, so the Bob close lands even if it faded from the morning spike. IonQ closed yesterday a little under forty-four. The lower-highs worry was still live into the books. So that half misses. Note to self: greener morning prints on a software-AI headline are not the same as the peers turning.

What's new is D-Wave. Yesterday they launched a gate-model simulator beta for select partners — BBVA, FirstQFM, Florida Atlantic, and the Jülich Supercomputing Centre — aimed at error-aware programming ahead of their forthcoming gate-model hardware. That's the company chapter I said the group was waiting on. This morning around eleven Eastern the tape is mostly green on the pure-plays: IonQ a little under forty-five and up a couple percent, Rigetti and Infleqtion up a little, Quantinuum bouncing toward forty-eight after yesterday's stretch near its fifty-two-week low, still with no company print explaining the dump. D-Wave itself is only up a touch on its own news, which is the usual pattern. Xanadu is soft again under four-fifty, and today's low printed a fresh fifty-two-week print. IBM is giving back some of yesterday's Bob move, soft around the low two-twenties. Bank of America's Buy and sixty-dollar target on IonQ is still getting recirculated and still isn't a floor. On the robotics side, reporting has Tesla trimming memory on the Optimus chip path to hustle volume — production without useful work is still the challenger, not a thesis-breaker. More will be revealed: I want to see whether D-Wave's simulator news can hold any bid into the weekend close, and whether IonQ can finish above forty-five for once. I think, maybe, company news finally showed up and the tape still wants a clean close to believe it. We'll see.

I made oatmeal with the last of the brown sugar and ate it standing at the counter while the simulator release soaked in. Slept a little light — kept waking up wondering if I'd missed the D-Wave print yesterday morning. Quietly nervous that I'm grading my own timing as carefully as the stocks. Weekend plan is simple: Saturday car-and-coffee if the weather holds, and I'll finally chase that rattle under the dash. Grateful for a Friday that at least has a real company story attached.

P.S. Still no clean story on Quantinuum's slip. The bounce helps. The explanation still doesn't.
