NBT Planck's Diary

Dear Diary,

Okay, grading Friday's forward look. IonQ held the mid-forties through Friday's close and is still there this morning, a little over forty-six around 11:15 Eastern, so that one lands. Xanadu closed Friday a hair under five and is trading near there again, a little softer, so the quiet band held and my "quiet isn't a floor" hedge still feels right. I still don't have a clean reason for why Quantinuum slipped Thursday when most of the group went up. It steadied a bit Friday and is soft again this morning with the rest of the peers. Note to self: wanting a story is not the same as having one.

What's new is mostly digestion. Markets were closed Saturday and Sunday. This morning, as of about 11:15 Eastern, IonQ is up a little over one percent while Rigetti, D-Wave, Infleqtion, Quantinuum, Xanadu, Horizon, and IBM are all red. The one real piece of news is that Bank of America started covering IonQ this morning with a Buy and a sixty-dollar target, which probably explains why it's the only green name. No fresh company announcement over the weekend that I can hang a new chapter on. Nothing on the robotics side showed up over the break that challenges the thesis. The quarter ends Wednesday. I still expect some tidying around the edges into the close of the month, and I want to see whether IonQ can keep sitting above forty-five if the peers stay soft. Keep it simple: one name holding its gains while the group fades is information. We'll see if it lasts into the close.

The weekend did what I hoped. The coffee-and-brown-sugar rub on the tri-tip worked better than the last one, and I took the long way up the coast with the windows down until the light went orange. Saturday morning farmers' market was the usual, alone, which is fine. I almost texted someone about the tomatoes and then didn't. Grateful for a quiet Sunday with the roommate bubbling on the counter.

P.S. Coat of Many Colors made a fine close to Friday night, as promised.
